Andreas Schüller
Musical Head and Conductor of the Orchestra

The Berlin-born conductor studied music and conducting at the two high schools in his hometown with Prof. Rolf Reuter and Sebastian Weigle and also horn and piano.
Early on, he began as a pianist and conductor to be active in the free opera scene in Berlin. As an assistant he worked for Marc Piollet, Rudolf Barshai (National Youth Orchestra) and Lothar
Zagrosek (Young German Philharmonic).
An assistance in 2002 brought him to the Salzburg Festival, where he was permitted to work in the production of "Die Liebe der Danae" of Fabio Luisi. Schüller was at the Salzburg Festival regularly
until the summer of 2007. In the last two years he worked there as a choral director and has performed rehearsals of the Vienna State Opera Chorus for "Le Nozze di Figaro," "La Clemenza di Tito" and
some concerts. This brought him into contact with conductors such as Markus Stenz, Valerie Gergiev, Bertrand deBilly and especially Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
2003 Schüller was admitted to the "Conductors' Forum" (a support program of the German Music Council). In the 2003/04 season Schüller was committed to the Vienna Volksoper, where he has since worked
as a conductor and has conducted a wide repertoire of over 20 operas, operettas and ballets. In the years 2005 and 2006, he was also involved at the State Theatre in Wiesbaden as a second
Conductor.
Since the 08/09 season Schüller has been engaget at the Leipzig Opera, where he served as 1.Kapellmeister in numerous ballets (Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Giselle, etc.) and own prodctions such as
Wagner's "Flying Dutchman", Janacek's "Jenufa" and a new production of Rossini's "Barber". Other engagements have taken him to the Komische Oper Berlin and the Cologne Opera House. He conducted the
Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, the Lower Austrian musical artists, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Kassel State Orchestra, as well as the national youth
orchestras of Hessen, Schleswig-Holstein and Upper Austria.
Since 2009, Andreas Schüller is closely connected with the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Lower Saxony. Here he leads the annual summer project with great symphonic programs. (see current program)
